It's undeniable that cloud computing has been a disruptive force in business, but even more specifically – and discussed less often – the cloud has disrupted IT organizations.
For example:
- Cloud computing has affected outsourcing. As CIO Insight said recently, “the rise of IT automation may make the need to outsource IT completely unnecessary.”
- In order to take advantage of the business benefits of cloud technologies, the IT workforce must have the necessary cloud knowledge and skills. Unfortunately, many IT organizations are finding a shortage of cloud skills.
- With cloud skills in high demand, salaries for knowledgeable IT professionals are trending upward.
