ASUS ROG GL552VW Win10 (64-bit) Intel HD 530 driver update issue

$

I have an Asus ROG GL552VW laptop.

CPU: i7 6700HQ

Chip: HM170 chipset and HD Graphic 530

I did a fresh install of Win10 Home 64-bit (build 1803), and manually installed the drivers. I installed latest Intel graphic driver (24.20.100.6094 or 24.20.100.6025) from Intel, but Win10's automatic update downgrades it to 21.20.16.4550. Why?

Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10

Is 24.20.100.6094 not the correct supported driver for HD 530? If not, where can I download 21.20.16.4550? There is no other older versions available on Intel in the link above.

Please help. Thanks.

forum archives, hyperstereo, D410 brackets

a question,a feature request and product info ... all in one post!!!

Where can I access the forum archives?  I can only see about the last two weeks worth of discussions.

Product Info

I have already begun implementing hyperstereo.  I have found that by using the rear mounting holes on the back of the cameras and hooking them up to a small piece of channel ... from Home Depot... I can get reasonably aligned images, suitable for analysis.  By using two cameras, I can get any baseline I want.  Fun stuff.  I have a D415,D435 and a D410(which matches the IR cameras on the D415).  I can't find the mounting brackets for the d410... where's the kit?

Feature request:

I would like to be able to put the hyperstereo data back through the D400 processor.  I can analyze it all myself, but it isn't exactly a priority for me.  ... a great project for the RealSense Team... go Team!!! :

Thanks,

Rich

"unknown error 0xA0040002" and failure while creating a mirrored volume using RST 16.0.2.1086

$

0

I recently upgraded my motherboard to an Asus Prime Z370-A which I specifically purchased because it had Intel's Rapid Storage Technology onboard, which I planned to use for a RAID 1 mirrored volume over two 4 TB disks.

I had already had these disks set up as a mirrored volume on my old motherboard.  Because of the change in operating system and technology, I had to recreate the volume.

I was distressed to see that the only option in the BIOS configuration for creating the volume would destroy all the data.  This wasn't a possibility for me because I don't have anywhere to store my 3TB of data while I do this.

I was glad to see that there was a windows GUI application which supported creating a volume without deleting all data.  But it hasn't worked for me despite trying many things and searching through this forum for hours.  It's also pretty distressing to see the huge number of people posting here, over years, about "unknown errors".  Why hasn't the software been updated to give more informative error messages?

Anyway, I am one of those people.  When I go to create the volume while preserving data I get the "unknown error" message (attached) and the creation fails (although the software claims success).  Then the target drive (the one without the data) is marked as "unavailable" and no longer shows up in the disk manager.  I was able to remove this condition with the RST tool, but that just brought me back to where I started.  I am using version 16.0.2.1086 which I have verified as compatible with my motherboard: PRIME Z370-A Driver & Tools | Motherboards | ASUS USA

I followed the instructions in this thread: xA005005D Error when Trying to Convert Non-RAID System Drive to RAID1 and Preserve Data

First by shrinking the volume I was sourcing the data from, which first caused the system to be unable to boot, necessitating reverting to a system restore point.  The volume was split however (which you can see in my screenshot of the drive management attached), but still the RST failed to create the volume in the exact same way as before.

Then I attempted to use the software linked (RST v 11.7.0.1013) as a second option, which caused me to be unable to boot, and I had to revert to a system restore point.  Note I uninstalled v.16.0.2.1086 before installing v.11.7.0.1013.

I've also verified that RST (and nto AHCI) is enabled in BIOS.

I can't find any more information about this issue in the boards.  I am attaching an image of the error message, an image of my disk management, a system support utility report, and a RST system report.

Thanks for your help, if you can offer some.

Why NUC8i7HNK is much more hot than NUC8i7HVK in stress test?

I made some stress tests for NUC8i7. I found NUC8i7HNK is very easy to reach the max temperature (100℃) in stress test but NUC8i7HVK is never over 90℃.

So I can not understand that NUC8i7HNK 65W TDP is lower than NUC8i7HVK 100W TDP and they have the same cooler. Why NUC8i7HNK is much more hot than NUC8i7HVK?

here is the NUC8i7HNK test result: the temperature reach to 100℃ very quickly in 10 seconds.

NUC7i7DN Bitlocker + Hardware SSD encryption = OPAL password prompt on every boot??

I have a BLKNUC7i7DNH1 and enabled hardware encryption on my 860 EVO.

Now, every time I turn on or reboot the computer, the UEFI firmware asks for an Admin password. I hit enter a few times, and then it asks for a User password. I hit enter a few more times, and I get a UEFI error message saying the drive can't be unlocked and something about "OPAL". Then Windows 10 Pro boots up normally.

I am using UEFI BIOS firmware version 0049.

How do I identify the correct raid drivers for a Intel® Server Board S5500HCV Family?  It has a ICHx/ESB2 Embedded Raid controller.  Every driver I've downloaded so far doesn't work.  This is for a reload of 2008.

PX4Flow botched Intel Aero IMU

$

Following my previous post that has not really been responded to, I am now trying to integrate the PX4Flow optical flow sensor into the Intel Aero. As previously mentioned, the current setup is the Intel Aero running Ubuntu 16.04 on the compute board and PX4 on the flight controller side.

aero-get-version.py       returns the following:

     BIOS_VERSION = Aero-01.00.16

     OS_VERSION = Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS"

     AIRMAP_VERSION = unknown

     FPGA_VERSION = 0xc2

     AeroFC firmware version = 1.8.0

Initially, I followed the toolchain setup in this document and then proceeded to download the source code as instructed here. After lots of fiddling around with stuff, I finally got to build the code with the PX4Flow driver, as well as enabling it to start that drive upon startup. Although kinda noisy, the sections for OPTICAL_FLOW_RAD and DISTANCE_SENSOR are present in the MAVLink Inspector and show realistic current values. This was all good until I rebooted the UAV, after which I've started getting these critical errors:

"Critical:PREFLIGHT FAIL: EKF INTERNAL CHECKS"     &

"Critical:PREFLIGHT FAIL: EKF HGT ERROR"                 &

     "Critical:PREFLIGHT FAIL: EKF YAW ERROR"

As well, in the realtime simulated "aircraft view" widget in QGroundControl that shows vehicle orientation, the axis's are all off by +- 40 degrees. Initially, I attributed this to sensor calibration so I went through the calibration multiple times and none affected anything. Each calibration also took a few tries as I repeatedly got the errors:

"Critical: ERROR: invalid orientation"  and another error regarding reading the terraone parameter [which I'm not using]

During a period where error's didn't come up, I armed the UAV handheld and when some of the error's came up, the UAV disarmed itself "midflight" which worries me about what might happen if it were actually flying. I will add though that before attempting to implement the px4flow, I was getting the "MAG0 FAIL: Preflight selfcheck failed" [or something like that] error.

I'm not really sure how to continue so your assistance would be much appreciated.

Side Notes/Questions:

-What happened to the entire px4 downloads page? like it just disappeared, and the google cache only shows the text, not the downloadable drivers etc... it made setting up the px4flow very....difficult.

-Initially I setup the optical flow to work with the original intel aero downwards facing camera, but now that I have the px4flow, how do I switch it to use that instead? Currently I've just unplugged the bottom camera but I'd like to be able to use it for      other things later

-I will be operating mostly indoors where I do not trust the magnetic "interference" so was wondering if there's a way to disable the magnetometer? It was brought up in this conversation but I could not find the parameter anywhere. If someone could explain the workaround a bit more clearly that would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Video issues!

I am having constant screen flickers and blackouts. I have tried various remedies including all recommended driver updates. I am currently running the Radeon 18.6.1 driver and Intel 630 version 24.20.100.6136 driver. If I were to guess I suspect it has to do with HDCP not working correctly as I sometimes get a green screen that corrects after unplugging video cable that is HDMI at the moment.

Funny thing is that if I uninstall the AMD drivers package I get flawless video. Of course I get no sound through the HDMI cable but video problems go away and video runs at 64hz. Video really is good this way even at full 4k so I may just work around the sound issue. any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

Intel Aero RTF discontinued?

Hi,

the Intel Aero RTF is out of stock for since a while now on Intel Click as well as all distributors (RS, Mouser).

I asked the support and they told me to subscribe to the notifications. I dug further, got the second level support and asked when it will be back in stock or if it has been discontinued. They were very evasive and basically did not answer.

Does anyone here has more info's?

Regards

Peter

Hello, I want to accelerate a 2TB drive with a 120 GB SSD. I've enabled the SSD drive to be used as the acceleration drive. However when i select the 2TB drive to accelerated I get the error of the title.

Right now I'm using 15.9 drivers and the chipset is the z68. All of this is under Windows 7 professional.

I've attached a system report of my computer. If you need any more information let me know.

Gigabyte Bios Mode not Compatible with Optane Memory

How do I get the Bios and Optane to recognize each other or work?  I have a new Gigabyte Aorus Z370, the bios has been updated to F6.  Intel I7 8700K. New Intel Optane 32GB installed in correct M2 slot.  Upon running SetupOptaneMemory app it says Bios configuration not compatible with Optane memory.   I am trying to have Optane speed up a 10GB secondary storage drive that is new and Basic.  Win10 64 is running on a separate SSD.  The Optane drive is installed, set to Basic in disk manager, but unformatted (unallocated).  The 10GB drive is set to basic in disk manager, and also unformatted (unallocated).  I added a 7 MB partition to the end of the 10GB drive.  If I go into Bios and disable CSM, and activate Intel RST for SATA per the Optane instructions, the whole system cannot boot to Windows and keeps booting to the Bios screen.  What am I missing?

I have a single AMT 4.0 machine I am trying to provision in enterprise mode PSK using open MDTK version 0.1.34 I found at this url http://www.meshcommander.com/open-manageability. It appears to be getting stuck while trying to apply the provisioning changes because it hasn't seeded/set the random number generator.

The machine I'm trying to provision is running debian stretch and I tried to provision it using a separate computer with a windows 10 vm.

Attached is the error log I receive.

slow wireless transfer on fast network

$

0

hi folks, I was wondering if any gurus in here could shed some light on why I'm only getting a transfer speed of 5mb/sec (approx 45-50Mbps) on the wireless network below comprised of an older (but very fast), rock solid M6700 Dell Workstation and a newer Asus Q324UA laptop using a Linksys EA6350.  Setup below:

1. Dell M6700 Workstation with Windows 7 Pro with Intel Centrino Advanced N 6205 a/b/g/n wireless card , driver Date 6/16/2013, v 15.9.0.5 , provided by Microsoft)

Looks like Dell has a slightly newer driver, v 15.10.0.10, A06 Release date 10/23/2013 but I'm afraid  of installing this version as I don't believe the wireless on this Dell is the problem, see below, further details; UPDATE:  I just installed this latest driver but the system did no take it, so still back to the older driver).

2.Asus Q325UA (UX370UAR) with Windows 10 Home with Intel Dual Band AC8260 wireless card. (Driver Date 3/19/18, v 20.50.0.4, provided by Microsoft)

3. Between them, I have a Linksys EA6350 router with latest firmware, supporting  both 2.4 and 5ghz.

The 5ghz is set to mixed/auto (802.11n and 802.11ac) and both laptops are connected on this 5ghz protocol.

For testing purposes, the laptops are near the router such that I have max connectivity, 5 bars on the Windows 7 laptop and Link up-speed is 300Mbps but Utilization is only 15% on a transfer, Dell to wireless router to Asus.

On the Asus laptop, the "Connection Type" is 802.11ac, but the transfer is 45Mbps.

If I force the router to only use 802.11ac, then the older Dell Windows 7 cannot connect to it, because it's only supporting the N protocol as the best protocol.  So I'm leaving the router to "mixed mode" for the 5ghz connection.

Per article at

https://www.ghacks.net/2016/08/05/windows-10-limiting-internet-speed/

Setting netsh interface tcp set global autotuning = disabled         and restarting both laptops, I now show on both laptops:  "Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level"  = disabled.

Further, on Windows 7, I can turn off the Advanced "Large Send Offload (IPV4)" -- disabled   under the Windows 7 laptop   but I cannot find this on the Windows 10 Home Edition network advanced properties.

I suspect that since the Asus Windows 10 Home edition connects to 802.11ac but the Dell Workstation connects to 802.11n, there must be something with the router that may slow the connection, even though the router has the latest firmware applied.

So far, I can only get a 5mb/sec transfer between these two laptops (approx 50Mbps) which I feel is suboptimal.

Any thoughts on how I could increase the speed?

Thanks much for any thoughts,

Cos

P.S.  hi folks, a quick update:   I've connected both laptops to another network 802.11n, the router very close,  and while both laptops (windows 7 and Windows 10) show being connected at 300Mbps (Link Speed), again, I could still only see an approx 45Mbps transfer rate between the two laptops.

I have installed Intel SSD 5 hdd on Windows 10 build 1803 workstation.
Prod code: SSDSC2KW512GBX1
SN: BTLA7445077L512DGN

OS recognizes drive. I have initialized drive as NTFS and gave it a drive letter.
I have installed Data Migration Software v3.
Keep getting message that DMS v3 only works with Intel drive.

Instructions say I should run the idms_1041_workaround.exe (located in the downloaded .zip folder).
This software is not in the download folder.
Where do I get the workaround or how should I proceed.
